MUSCATINE, Iowa – The public is invited to join City of Muscatine staff in congratulating Police Chief Brett Talkington on his retirement from the Muscatine Police Department after nearly 35 years of service to the community with the last 12 years as the Chief of Police. The reception will be held from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Monday (Feb. 27) at the Musser Public Library & HNI Community Center, 408 E. 2nd Street, Muscatine.
MUSCATINE, Iowa – The community is invited to venture out to the Muscatine Mall from 1-3 p.m. on October 15 as the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department hosts the 12th Annual Fall Festival.
The main corridors will be filled with a variety of autumn-inspired crafts that would be perfect for home, or office, décor. A variety of games and activities that are sure to entertain the whole family will also be available throughout the Muscatine Mall during the event.
Children will have a blast creating Halloween crafts, playing games, winning prizes, and much more. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.
Families and children of all ages are encouraged to attend this event. There is no cost to participate in the Fall Festival.

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The public is invited to provide comments during a public hearing Thursday as the City Council considers proposed revisions to the All-Terrain Vehicle Ordinance.
The City Council meets in regular session Thursday (September 1) in the Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall, 215 Sycamore Street, Muscatine, Iowa. A virtual session will be held in conjunction with the in-person meeting for those who want to view the proceedings or make a comment but do not feel comfortable attending in person. The City Council directed City staff to prepare changes to the All-Terrain Vehicle Regulations during the May 2022 In-Depth session. Since then, the State of Iowa passed a new code governing All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) and Off-Road Utility Vehicles (UTV) throughout all 99 counties. The revisions to the City Code of Muscatine being proposed include definitions and requirements related to the use of ATVs and UTVs, and reasonable rules and regulations for the maintenance and operation of ATVs and UTVs on approved roadways within the City of Muscatine.
The first reading of the proposed revised ordinance will be held later in the meeting along with the second reading of the proposed revisions to the snow emergency regulations that include a return to snow emergency route designations.

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The community is invited to come enjoy an afternoon of hunting for buried treasure, building snow creatures, and drinking hot cocoa as the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department hosts the Snow Pile Treasure Hunt January 29. The hunt will be held 1-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course located at 1820 Hwy 38 North in Muscatine.
The family-friendly event will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the Snow Pile Treasure Hunt for children in preschool through the fifth grade who will be searching for hidden golf balls that can be redeemed for prizes at the table located just outside the Clubhouse.
A Snow Creature Building Contest will be held immediately following the Snow Pile Treasure Hunt and is open to artists of all ages. Families will have fun racing against the clock to gather their materials and build the most creative snow creature. Each participant will receive a prize.
Attendees will be able to warm up inside the Clubhouse throughout the event at a delicious hot cocoa bar.
